Ethernet Solution Hardware
Get the required hardware and miscellaneous hardware and tools
You have the choice of watching the sequence in a short video or following the detailed actions listed below.
1.1 Required Hardware
The hardware required to assemble, wire, and run the EasyEVSE is listed below:
- i.MX RT1060 EVK or i.MX RT1064 EVK
- Edge lock SE050 development board
- TWR-KM35Z75M, TWR-KM34Z75M, or TWR-KM34Z50M board
- CLEV6630ARD
- RK043FN02H-CT 4.3-inch TFT 480*272 LCD
1.2 Miscellaneous Hardware and Tools
The miscellaneous hardware and tools required to assembly the platform is shown below:
- RJ45 Ethernet UTP cable
- 2.54-mm jumper cables: 3 male-to-female cables and 2 male-to-male cables
- NFC passive device; for example, blank NFC MIFARE or NTAG sample cards
- Electronic diagonal cutters
- Soldering Iron and solder core wire
- Double sided foam tape
- ESD tweezers
- Four 2 ½’’ standoff screws
Please note that the i.MX RT106x needs to be connected directly to Internet to operate. Make sure that your router or network does not reject the internet connection.
Wi-Fi Solution Hardware
2.1 Required Hardware
The hardware required to assemble, wire and run the EasyEVSE is listed below:
- i.MX RT1060 EVK-A
- TWR-KM35Z75M, TWR-KM34Z75M or TWR-KM34Z50M board
- RK043FN66HS-CTG 4.3-inch TFT 480*272 LCD
- NFC board CLEV6630ARD
- Security Board OM-SE050ARD-E
- u-blox MAYA-W161 EVK kit or MAYA-W166 EVK
2.2 Miscellaneous Hardware and Tools
The miscellaneous hardware and tools required to assembly the platform is shown below:
- 2.54-mm jumper cables: 11x male-to-female jumper cables
- Double sided foam tape
- ESD tweezers
- Four 1 ½’’ standoff screws
- 3 USB ports availability
- 1x NFC passive device: MIFARE card
- 1x FPC FFC PCB Converter Connector Board 24P 0.5 mm to Female Side 1 mm Back to DIP 2.54 mm
- 1x FFC Loop Cable 24 Pin 0.5 mm
Get Software
Get the required software
This short video list all the required software for this initial simplified setup.
The below sections provide links to the required software.
3.1 Install the MCUXpresso IDE
Download and install the latest version of the IDE for your operating system.
3.2 Install the MCUXpresso SDK
Build, download and install the MCUXpresso SDK for your i.MX RT106x and TWR-KM3x board variant.
Revision 1.0 of the EasyEVSE software requires SDK v2.10 for i.MX RT106x and TWR-KM3x board variant.
Unbox and Setup
4.1 Ethernet Solution
This video describes the unboxing and setup of each one of the EasyEVSE development boards and LCD. Including the creation and setup of Azure Iot Central Application, using a shareable link template and the configuration of a mutually secure and authenticated connection with the Azure Iot Central.
4.2 Wi-Fi Solution
This section describes the unboxing and setup of each one of the EasyEVSE development boards, the Wi-Fi module and LCD. Including the creation and setup of Azure IoT Central application, using a shareable link template and the configuration of an authenticated connection with the Azure IoT Central. For further details please watch the full video in section 6.2

Plug it In
6.1 Ethernet Solution
This video shows the required power up sequence of the platform. Also, provides recommended steps for testing communication of NFC and Meter boards with the Service processing board (i.MX RT106x EVK).
Once you successfully completed this getting started setup, refer to the available Design resources.
The User Guide provides additional information on how to use your Azure IoT Central application to monitor telemetry, update properties and send commands to your EasyEVSE device.
To simplify the start-up process, the plug-and-trust SE050 secure element was not implemented in this getting started setup. Refer to the User Manual to learn how to implement it and to get a detailed description of each building block of the platform.
The NXP EasyEVSE EV Charging Station Software and Support training will show you how the development platform helps to address key design challenges faced by EV charging station developers and to learn more how to leverage this platform in your EV Charging Station project.
6.2 Wi-Fi Solution
This completed getting started video shows the required hardware, necessary software, the unboxing, how to set up the connectivity to the cloud and the power up sequence of the platform. Also, it provides the recommended steps for testing the communication of the meter board and Wi-Fi module with the service processing board (i.MX RT1064 EVK).
Once you successfully completed this getting started setup, refer to the available design resources.
The User Guide provides additional information on how to use your Azure IoT Central application to monitor telemetry, update properties and send commands to your EasyEVSE device.
