Wired connectivity enables fast, reliable and deterministic data transmission across devices and systems using Ethernet, TSN, CAN and LIN. Designed for industrial and automotive use, NXP technologies support scalable architectures and secure systems with features like secure boot and post-quantum cryptography for long-term performance and flexibility.
Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) solutions enable real-time, compact, cost-effective Ethernet connectivity for industrial and automotive systems using integrated MACs and TSN-enabled switches.
GenAVB/TSN middleware and Real-time Edge Software for Cortex-A and Cortex-M platforms combined with Port industrial protocols supporting EtherCAT®, PROFINET®, EtherNet/IP™, and OPC UAFX, deliver deterministic and secure communication. Integrated stacks and tools simplify scaling from real-time control to full industrial networking while speeding system development.
Robust CAN/CAN FD/XL solutions with TJA transceivers and gateways bridging CAN to Ethernet—ideal for high-speed, fault-tolerant automotive and industrial communication.
Comprehensive interface solutions: UART, SPI, I²C/I3C, USB-Type C, FlexRay and LIN for reliable data, power and control across automotive and industrial systems.

NXP supports a broad range of wired connectivity technologies, including Ethernet (with TSN and Single Pair Ethernet), industrial Ethernet, CAN and CAN FD, and serial interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, I3C, USB, LIN and FlexRay for industrial and automotive systems.
Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) adds deterministic latency, traffic scheduling and time synchronization to Ethernet, enabling real-time communication required for industrial automation, motion control and robotics, unlike traditional best-effort Ethernet.
Single Pair Ethernet uses a single twisted pair of wires and smaller connectors, reducing cabling size, weight and cost while maintaining Ethernet compatibility, making it well suited for sensors, actuators and space-constrained industrial devices.
NXP Software for Industrial Networking is a portfolio of software components, protocol stacks and tools that enable secure, real-time and interoperable industrial communication across Ethernet-based and TSN-based networks.
NXP’s industrial networking software supports leading industrial protocols, including PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, TSN-based networking and additional protocols such as Modbus TCP and OPC UA, depending on the hardware platform. NXP acquired port GmBH in August 2025, enabling integration of their industrial protocols on applicable NXP edge processors.
The software is delivered through device-specific SDKs and protocol packages. Developers can access protocol stacks, middleware, examples and configuration tools that integrate with NXP processors and supported operating systems.
Wired connectivity and industrial networking software are supported across NXP application processors, i.MX RT crossover MCUs and industrial microcontrollers, enabling scalable designs from simple edge devices to high-performance industrial controllers and gateways.
Developers can get started by selecting a supported NXP platform and downloading available SDKs, industrial networking software packages, evaluation kits and documentation to begin evaluation and development.
