NXP’s new Common Criteria EAL6+ certified EdgeLock A30 secure authenticator combines compatibility with standard MCUs and MPUs, a large memory and EdgeLock 2GO support to deliver an optimized solution to securely onboard and protect device information
As part of its ongoing initiative to provide innovative systems solutions for industrial and smart home energy management,NXP Semiconductors today announced the EdgeLock A30 secure authenticator, part of NXP’s widely adopted family of EdgeLock discrete security solutions. The EdgeLock A30 is designed to enable manufacturers to quickly and easily deliver a secure authentication solution for devices and accessories across a wide range of markets, including gaming, computing, smart home, energy management, industrial, and healthcare, while also satisfying new and upcoming regulatory requirements for security, protection, and sustainability.
New and upcoming regulations, such as the EU’s Batteries Regulation 2023/1542 introducing new sustainability and safety requirements for batteries, require the use of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) by 2027, including a digital record of important information about a product’s composition, origin and lifecycle. The EdgeLock A30 secure authenticator offers a quickly scalable solution that makes it easier to meet these new requirements.
Secure authentication helps to ensure brand protection, consumer safety, and product traceability, fostering trust and shielding devices from physical damage. Smaller than a grain of rice, the EdgeLock A30 is designed to fit into even the smallest of devices. It supports multiple authentication use cases, making it easier for developers to support a variety of devices and accessories with a single solution, including device to device, cloud to device, counterfeit protection, and storage or protection of device identity.
Alasdair Ross, Senior Director, NFC IoT Security, NXP.
The EdgeLock A30 secure authenticator is compatible with standard MCUs and MPUs, including NXP’s MCX portfolio of MCUs and i.MX portfolio of MPUs. It includes up to 16kB memory for secure storage of credentials, making it easier to store additional credentials. It is Common Criteria EAL 6+ AVA_VAN.5 certified, with symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. In addition, it enables simple key management and key provisioning via public key infrastructure (PKI) for easy deployment. Designed to scale quickly to high volumes, the EdgeLock A30 is supported by EdgeLock 2GO services for certificates delivery and additional certificates generation.
