Tianjin, China, May 19, 2021– NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) this week inaugurated its first AIoT Application Innovation Center in Tianjin. The event was attended in person by Mr. Jan van Rossum, the Head of the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from the Tianjin Municipal Government and Dr. Tingwei Li, Chairman of NXP Greater China, while Lars Reger, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for NXP and Ron Martino, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Edge Processing for NXP, attended the ceremony virtually.
NXP has been operating in Tianjin for nearly 30 years where it has a leading packaging and testing facility, a strong R&D team, as well as a chip design joint-venture. With the support of the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), NXP built its first global AIoT Application Innovation Center, aiming to empower collaborative innovation in the AIoT application ecosystem.
The Innovation Center is opening in two phases. The first phase is the AIoT Application Demo Lab, which will showcase more than 100 cutting-edge technologies and end-user applications from NXP and its partners, covering multiple areas, including smart city, smart home, smart transportation and industry. The AIoT Application Demo Lab will be open to the public starting today. The second phase is the AIoT Innovation and Training Lab, which will empower partners to innovate locally through technical training and a leading R&D platform.
