DETROIT, Michigan – October 5, 2016 – (NXP FTF Connects Forum-Detroit) –NXP Semiconductors introduces its latest generation of system basis chips (SBCs) with the newFS45 and FS65 products, engineered tosupport the creation of robust, system-level functional safety systems, whilehelping reduce overall energy consumption.
The newSBCs target automotive applications such as battery management systems, electricpower steering, electric or hybrid electric vehicles and advanced power trainsystems such as start and stop, or transmission control. Both feature "Fail silent"functionality that helps to ensure predictive reaction after failure, as wellas configurable device behavior that can be adapted by software designers to specificsystem safety goals. A configurable fail silent strategy supports a variety ofsystem safety concepts and levels up to ISO 26262 Automotive SafetyIntegrity Level (ASIL) D.
Thenew FS45 and FS65 products are NXP's follow-on offerings to the popular MC33907/8SBCs, which successfully completed TUV SUD functional safety assessment in 2015.The new devices offer optimized efficiency, scalability and reliability, and havesuccessfully demonstrated high quality during qualification, doublingreliability performance compared to standard Automotive qualifications requirements from AECQ100.
All NXPSBCs undergo stringent, automotive-grade safety critical processes and tests, including fault injection testing at silicon level, and more than 350 batterypulses applied to the product, validating system robustness for availabilityunder a wide range of challenging supply voltage profiles.
Key features include:
NXP'snew FS45 and FS65 chips feature
Efficiency – ultra low-power modes, down to 30 μAwith long duration timer for parking mode to save battery discharge.
Availability
FS45 and FS65 portfolio chips are automotive-qualifiedand now available.
SafeAssure Program: Functional Safety. Simplified.
The NXP SafeAssure functionalsafety program is designed to help you simplify the process of achieving systemcompliance with functional safety standards in the automotive and industrialmarkets.
