Empowers local enterprises and drives results through collaborative innovation.
Tianjin, China, May 19, 2021– NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) this week inaugurated its first AIoT Application Innovation Center in Tianjin. The event was attended in person
by Mr. Jan van Rossum, the Head of the Economic Section of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from the Tianjin Municipal Government and Dr. Tingwei Li, Chairman of NXP Greater China,
while Lars Reger, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for NXP and Ron Martino, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Edge Processing for NXP, attended the ceremony
Why it Matters
NXP has been operating in Tianjin for nearly 30 years where it has a leading packaging and testing facility, a strong R&D team, as well as a chip design joint-venture. With the support of the
Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), NXP built its first global AIoT Application Innovation Center, aiming to empower collaborative innovation in the AIoT application ecosystem.
The Innovation Center is opening in two phases. The first phase is the AIoT Application Demo Lab, which will showcase more than 100 cutting-edge technologies and end-user applications from NXP and
its partners, covering multiple areas, including smart city, smart home, smart transportation and industry. The AIoT Application Demo Lab will be open to the public starting today. The second phase
is the AIoT Innovation and Training Lab, which will empower partners to innovate locally through technical training and a leading R&D platform.
“The NXP AIoT Center underscores our commitment to build intelligent devices with high-performance compute, extreme energy efficiency and uncompromising security. Across more than 2,000 square
meters of interactive engineering space, the center will serve as both a collaborative hub with the local ecosystem and a springboard for new ideas that can benefit society.”
- Ron Martino, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Edge Processing, NXP
“NXP is a leading global semiconductor company, and our products are widely used in various aspects of smart living -- it can be said that NXP is everywhere. With the inauguration of the AIoT
Application Innovation Center, we want to interact even more closely with our customers and partners, to accelerate the development of additional applications through our leading technologies and
empower the local ecosystem -- especially SMBs -- to achieve a true win-win here in China.”
- Dr. Tingwei Li, Chairman of NXP Greater China
