In Part 4 of this series, I shared a video of an automotive e-Cockpit
with multiple displays controlled by a single processor. It was one of many showcases featuring i.MX
applications processors that we filmed in 360 degrees at NXP FTF 2016. The showcases take different interactive,
digital world experiences and make them real.
Enjoy this immersive 360 degree experience with a
headset/viewer or even straight from your phone or laptop by moving side-to-side and
up-and-down. Here is Part 5, the final in our series.
360 Degree Sensing to Extend Human Senses Beyond Physical Capability
What it is: This showcase demonstrates the use of seamless machine 360 degree sensing capability to extend human senses
beyond physical capability, experienced through a remote controlled vehicle with integrated surround vision
capability.
How it works: A multi-camera system is mounted on a moving object and films continuously in 3D to generate virtual
reality ready content. The content allows you to see everything around and map the 3D world in which you are
interacting. Imagine future home movies of your child’s birthday where you revisit the event as an avatar or
enable workplace training through a VR experience.
Technology demonstrated: i.MX applications
processor multi-camera support, seamless digital stitching algorithms with light compensation, HD display
capability and high performance CPU and GPU computational capability.
Relevant applications: Auto surround view, advanced monitoring and security, gaming and industrial automation
Thanks for joining us on this interactive journey. We hope you enjoyed our series!
