CES 2013: Intelligent Audio Amplifier Saves Power (NXP^® TDF8530 Class-D Demo)

http://www.nxp.com/pip/TDF8530TH At CES 2013, John van den Braak, NXP^® Semiconductors, demonstrates a 12-channel intelligent audio amplifier system capable of up to 1,000 W of output power. Built on the TDF8530 Class-D car-radio amplifier, the system also includes an embedded DC/DC converter. Depending on the volume or audio content, this intelligent audio amplifier can switch automatically between a 14-volt rail and a 25-volt rail as required, reducing power consumption by 25% while also reducing the size of the heat sink.
