The 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous (PMSM) motor control reference design is based on i.MX RT Series Crossover Processors and on Kinetis® V series MCUs. It is intended to provide the example for 3-phase sensor position and sensorless speed PMSM motor control solutions. The reference design uses a closed-loop field-oriented vector control (FOC) mechanism.
The i.MX RT series is the industry's first crossover processors and combines the high-performance and high level of integration on the applications processors with the ease of use and real-time functionality of a microcontroller. The i.MX RT1050/1060 runs on the Arm® Cortex®-M7 core at 600 MHz, i.MX RT1020 at 500 MHz. RT series provides a high-performance solution for motor control applications such as 3D printers and drones.
The Kinetis KVxx MCU family is built upon the Cortex-M4 and on Cortex-M0+ core running at up to 120MHz with comprehensive analog integration that provides a high-performance solution for PMSM motor control applications such as washing machine, fans, and pumps.
