AIM, Artificial Intelligence in Mobility is an exciting platform for engineering students to dive into the world of AI in Mobility and Robotics. Students design and create mobile robotics prototypes using cutting-edge technologies like AI/ML, object/sign recognition, sensors, motion detection, computer vision, and obstacle avoidance. Students will participate in multiple challenges both in simulation and real-world environment.

Features and Benefits

This fun and interesting event is targeted for engineering students, aged between 16-26 years, exposing them to program embedded controllers, develop algorithms for autonomy, and explore the world of artificial intelligence and automated driving. The vision of the challenge is to create well-rounded youth with industry skill sets and help them with the technical knowledge required for the new-age technologies.

AIM - Artificial Intelligence in Mobility Design Challenge

This challenge aims to design Mobile Robotics Prototypes by integrating various sensors inputs like camera, Lidar, etc. For the Regional Finale, Teams compete in a virtual environment using the Gazebo simulator. Post-Selection in the regionals, selected teams receive NXP buggy hardware kit. In Grand Finale, teams needs to compete in a real-world environment. Design and Develop:

Challenge Guidelines

Eligibility

Only students of 16-26 years as on 1-April of the given year of AIM challenge and currently pursuing UG/PG in Engineering from registered Indian colleges.

Registration

To participate in the challenge, registration is mandatory.

Score

Participants need to complete task as fast as possible with minimum penalties. Details will be available in the challenge details document.​ ​

Rules

NXP AIM India has the sole right to establish and update the Official Rules and Regulations of the Competition. 

Submissions

Every project element submitted by participating teams will be NXP AIM INDIA’s property .

Challenge Timeline

  • 1

    Registration

    Enroll in the challenge, complete eligibility checks, and qualify your team. ​

  • 2

    Virtual Training #1

    Attend online sessions on Gazebo simulator, ROS operating system, AI/ML from OpenCV, and sensor data processing for autonomous driving, etc on simulation environment.​

  • 3

    Model Creation: ​

    Design and develop Mobile Robotics Prototypes (MR-Buggy3). Objective is to design an autonomous rover driving algorithm by interfacing the camera and lidar inputs to the rover. Participants needs to complete the task as fast as possible with least penalties.​​ ​​

  • 4

    Pre-Regional Qualifier:​

    Teams for Regional Finale will be selected on basis of readiness for Regional Finale. Evaluation will be done virtually on basis of pre-recorded videos and online calls.​

  • 5

    Regional Finale​

    Regional Finale will take place in multiple cities of India, wherein the selected teams will join in-person. Qualified teams, need to complete the assigned task in virtual environment (Gazebo simulator) in the shortest time possible with least penalties. Based on Regional Finale performance, Teams will be selected for Grand Finale. ​

    Grand Finale selected teams will be provided with MR-Buggy3 HW kit.

  • 6

    Virtual Training #2​​

    Attend online sessions on MR-Buggy3 HW kit, deployment of software code on HW, etc.​​​

  • 7

    Grand Finale​​

    Grand Finale to happen in one of the locations of NXP India. Grand Finale qualified teams will join in-person and will compete their MR-Buggy3 in real world environment. ​

FAQs

I have participated in AIM event earlier, can I re-participate ?

Yes, there is no restriction on re-participation.

Is it possible for our institute to register multiple teams?

Yes, multiple teams from the same institute can be registered.

Is it possible for any individual to be part of multiple teams ?

No, one can only participate either as an individual or as a member of any one team. Multiple participation in other teams will result in team’s disqualification.

What is the required team size for registration?

A team can have 1 to 4 members

Can teams be formed outside of our college?

Yes
