It’s always great to kick off the new year with CES, where the latest technologies, trends, and products are
showcased,
and this year did not disappoint. NXP showcased smart solutions that exemplified the essence of being Brighter
Together.
We had three tracks in the NXP pavilion—Brighter Journeys, Brighter Places and Brighter Lives. In this blog, we will
provide a brief overview on how wireless connectivity is providing the foundational building block
for us to deliver
solutions for Brighter Lives. Advancements in seamless connectivity, security and edge processing continue to
accelerate the transformation of the Smart Home to the Autonomous, Intelligent Home. In the Brighter Lives area,
we
demonstrated our latest solutions and industry collaborations, including Matter-enabled appliances, AI-assisted
healthcare, seamless access control and an autonomous energy experience.
Energy Intelligent Homes that Deliver an Autonomous Energy Experience
NXP collaborated with more than a dozen partners to deliver this impactful experience with Matter as the backbone for
seamless connectivity. geo (Green Energy Options, Ltd) demonstrated its SeeZero products, including their
Matter-certified Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) device and Smart Thermostat—orchestrating energy awareness
and
usage especially focused on high-energy consuming home devices such as HVAC units, EV chargers, water heaters and
smart
dryers. Enabled by NXP’s system-level solutions, the experience simulated various energy events and actions
automatically taken upon each event. For example, an adverse weather event simulation triggers an alert to the home
residents via geo’s SeeZero HEMS device and then reduces energy usage by changing the temperature setting or
lowering
the level on the HVAC, turning off the EV charger, turning off the water heater, and pausing the dryer. These
actions
take into consideration the residents’ preferences as well. Once the weather event passes, the system autonomously
schedules putting the devices back to the original state in a scheduled fashion so that the grid is not overloaded.
The
variety of devices included in this demo implement technologies like Matter, AI and more from NXP.

Autonomous Energy System Solution Platforms
NXP provides full system-level solutions for Matter-enabled devices to allow product makers to more easily implement
connectivity and focus on innovation. This demo highlights energy-related devices including device types supported
in
the latest iterations of the Matter spec, using our FRDM development platforms and SW acceleration tools
for
Matter
and
application development. The solutions include devices such as thermostats, smart energy meters and auto EV charging
stations represented as a full reference solution from NXP called EasyEVSE —all of which incorporate NXP
technologies
for processing, connectivity, analog and security.
NXP offers multiple Matter FRDM board-based development platforms to streamline IoT
product development.
Autonomous Secure Access
We provided an early look at our highly integrated solution for effortless and secure access
control. Leveraging
NXP’s
years of expertise and leadership in hands-free car access, this solution unifies secure access and autonomous
technologies, streamlines development, and is mobile ecosystem ready. The demo delivers a hands-free and secure
experience in unlocking and locking a door based on your position using UWB and Bluetooth Low Energy.
Our
solution
integrates the necessary building blocks of HW, SW, trust provisioning services and a variety of connectivity
options— autol UWB, NFC , Bluetooth Low Energy.
This solution will also support Aliro, a new standard being developed by the
Connectivity Standards Alliance, which will establish a standard communication protocol between access readers and
user
devices. As an active contributor, NXP has a deep understanding of the technology. Stay tuned for more information
about
this solution as we bring it to market over the coming months. We also showed end products from our customers
leveraging
our solution: Xthings with their Ultraloq door lock and a MinebeaMitsumi door lock which also includes Matter over
Wi-Fi
along with the hands-free support via UWB and NFC needed for Aliro and similar solutions.

AI Controller for Health Insights (AICHI)
Healthcare is facing unprecedented challenges—rising costs, staff shortages and the growing need for personalized
care.
NXP is at the forefront of this transformation, providing cutting-edge technologies and solutions to deliver
personalized care directly at home.
With AICHI, an AI controller for health insights, we provide an Edge AI platform that securely collects and analyses
multimodal health data in real time. The AI controller uses information from environmental sensors that are part of
a
Matter-enabled smart home and from noninvasive health devices like blood pressure monitors, ECG patches, glucose
patches, and/or medical smartwatches. AI models are then used on the sensor data to predict and provide actionable
health insights to authorized caregivers outside of the home.
The AICHI system at CES will usher in the next generation of intelligent home
healthcare.
Brighter Lives with NXP
The solutions NXP showcased at CES for intelligent energy, Matter, access control and healthcare will not only move
the
IoT industry forward but also improve the lives of end consumers. Intelligent energy will ensure lower energy bills
and
a lower carbon footprint, AI in healthcare will help patients get the care they need, and standards like Matter and
Aliro will ensure interoperability and open the door to exciting innovations throughout 2025.
