The nature of the NXP workforce includes direct labor (DL) and indirect labor (IDL). DL are employees who are directly involved in the production of goods, while IDL consists of individual contributors, managers and executives in other functions such as R&D or general, sales and administrative (GS&A).

On December 31, 2020, the total extended workforce was 33,480 and of those, 27,730 are NXP employees, 1,454 joint venture (JV) and 4,296 contingent labor working across three regions and 30+ countries. Note: this is representative of total NXP headcount and not as Full Time Employee count as disclosed in the NXP 2020 10-K filing.

NXP directly hires recruited foreign migrant workers with the support from NXP approved labor agencies that provide support in document processing, such as visa applications, renewals and dormitory accommodations.

The employee demographics data represents total NXP headcount (HC) as of December 31, 2020.
