The MPC8349E Modular Development System (MDS) is designed to aid hardware and software developers using the PowerQUICC® II Pro MPC8349E family.

The MPC8349E MDS is comprised of three discrete hardware modules:

  • MPC8349E processor board
  • PowerQUICC Platform I/O board
  • PowerQUICC PMC to PCI module

The system also allows for optional USB and PCI Expansion module interfaces.

    The MPC8349E MDS Platform I/O Board is an AdvancedTCA form factor with 4 PMC slots. The Platform I/O board, along with the expansion modules, increase development capabilities. For example:

  • PCI Host mode (3.3 V 32 and 64-bit bus) with single agent (w/ PCI PMC card and PIB)
  • Access to second USB Port (w/ USB PMC card and PIB)
  • Additional USB PHYS (UTMI, ULPI, and Serial OTG)
  • PCI Host mode (3.3 V 32 and 64-bit bus) with multiple agents (w/PCI expansion card and PIB)
