Together with NXP, psLIVE, Habegger AG and RapidNFC, Coca-Cola is giving
highly interactive, personalized and memorable experiences to up to 3,500
visitors every day at the Milan Expo.
Coca-Cola was looking for a way to tell its sustainability story based on the
promotion of well-being, protecting the environment and building stronger
communities at the Milan Expo 2015. So how could it do this in a way that was
new, innovative and impactful?
The answer lies with NXP’s
NFC technology. Starting in May 2015, visitors at the Coca-Cola Corporate Pavilion have
been taken on an interactive journey via their personal NFC enabled keyfob.
The keyfob helps to deliver an experience tailored to the international
audience at the Milan Expo and promote the feeling of happiness Coca-Cola is
famed for.
The Coca-Cola NFC experience begins at the front desk where a hostess takes
the visitor’s name and nationality, this information is then programmed
onto an NFC keyfob and marks the start of their custom journey around the
pavilion.
As the visitor travels around the pavilion they are invited by Coca-Cola brand
ambassadors to touch their keyfob to NXP powered NFC readers which will prompt
messages to appear in their own language and using their first name. The
nationality of the visitor is also used to project personalized content,
including fun facts about Coca-Cola in their country and interactive quiz
games.
Another tap of the keyfob on a reader gives instructions to move onto the next
area – an interactive dance mat that encourages visitors to get up and
move.
The final area of the eco-friendly pavilion – the entire complex will
be recycled as a basketball court and donated to the Milan municipality
– reinforces elements of Coca-Cola’s sustainability story seen
elsewhere during the journey. Various interactive exhibits allow Coca-Cola to
educate visitors in an engaging way about how it supports global
sustainability.
But the Coca-Cola experience does not finish at the exit – the NFC
journey continues at home. Thanks to NFC, visitors will be able to access
their own Travel Diary: a page where they can look back on highlights of their
unforgettable journey inside the pavilion.
