What began in 1924 as an electron tube factory in Hamburg is now part of a global and highly innovative semiconductor company. Relentlessly and passionately seeking the solutions that advance our world, we are networked with the brightest minds around the globe to realize the breakthrough innovations that bring the future forward.
We currently have four locations with over 1,200 team members in Germany. Next to our R&D competence centers in Hamburg, Munich, and Dresden, our Sales teams are in Munich and Sindelfingen to effectively collaborate with customers across the country and Europe.
At NXP we are committed to driving innovation through collaboration in our ecosystems. R&D in Germany focuses on automotive, industrial and IoT (Internet of Things), mobile and communication infrastructure applications. Examples of innovation originating from R&D teams in Germany are the secure elements for credit cards, passports, and other identification documents.
In the automotive world, NXP Germany teams work to enable the software defined vehicle of the future with advanced processing solutions, smartphone-based car access or latest infotainment technologies.
To avoid road accidents, high resolution radar sensor technology is developed locally for global markets. A collaborative quantum computing initiative was established in 2023 in Hamburg. The CTO (Chief Technology Office) office is located between our Hamburg and Munich offices and concentrates on developing safe and secure solutions for autonomous driving, cybersecurity and Industry 4.0.

At NXP we believe in bringing together bright minds to create breakthrough technologies that make the connected world better, safer, and more secure. That is why NXP is engaging with young talents and is supporting several different projects and initiatives that help children and students to connect with experts from various fields and to feel inspired about the exciting field of technology.
The mint:pink initiative in Hamburg offers schoolgirls the opportunity to develop their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) subjects outside of school, during excursions to companies, university institutes, laboratories, and factory halls. NXP is one of the companies that supports this great initiative that builds opportunities for girls to try themselves out and experience in a practical way what options are available to them in this field.
"Engineering at School" brings excitement into classrooms. NXP engineers from the Dresden site are giving workshops in schools, letting pupils build and program their own smart LEGO car. Through collaborations with local schools, internships are available for pupils interested in STEM subjects.
At the annual “Kids Future Day” we welcome pupils to our sites in Munich, Dresden, and Hamburg to give them insights on how chips make the world go round as well as letting them gain experience in programming micro-bits.
NXP hosts a variety of competitions including HoverGames and the NXP Cup to support developers and students in autonomous driving and robotics fields in solving real world problems.
e-gnition is a student-run initiative that builds electric race cars for international engineering competitions. An initiative born to be partnered by NXP, being able to guide and support through our valuable insight and experience. For 12 years NXP has been the main sponsor and partner and has gained valuable new team members through this partnership.
At our Munich site, we´re offering not only office space and performant IT to start-ups, but also 300+ team members eager to support and engage as business incubators and mentors with the teams. We strongly believe that collaboration between established corporations and start-ups is a win-win situation for both sides.
NXP Germany participates in various subsidy initiatives, covering a wide range of topics. From big European NXP-led CHIPS JU projects like HiCONNECTS (addressing heterogeneous integration) and TRISTAN (RISC-V), to nationally funded, local projects like the “WaterRescueDrone”-Project supporting lifesaving in the Wadden Sea using special water rescue drones.
