Guadalajara is nicknamed Mexico´s Silicon Valley due to the large presence of high-tech companies in the area. NXP's largest facility in Latin America is based in Guadalajara.
In 1969, Motorola, Inc. opened its first Latin America-based operation in Guadalajara, Mexico. Originally built as a manufacturing plant for discrete semiconductor components, the site was later expanded to include more commercial operations. In 2000, the discrete division spun off to become ON Semiconductors®. The rest of Motorola’s business in Mexico became Freescale Semiconductor in 2004, which was acquired by NXP in 2015.
NXP’s emulation center in Mexico provides software and applications support for customers around the world. Our plant also serves as a center for post sales and failure analysis equipped with FQE laboratories, an advantage for our automotive customers in the Americas.
For eleven years, NXP Mexico has been in the top 100 companies certified under the Great Place to Work (GPTW) program, and in 2020 we are ranked #14 in Mexico.
