Munich Public Library: Leading the Way with RFID

The Munich City Library (Muenchner Stadtbliothek) has the largest library RFID installation in Europe, with approximately 3 million books and media in circulation across the central library and its 22 branches. The self-service system for checking out and returning books and other media has proven extremely popular with library patrons - and with library staff, who are able to focus on other tasks. The books and media contain RFID chips based on the ISO 15693 standard. Worldwide, approximately 1 billion pieces of media in libraries are now RFID-enabled using NXP's ICODE^® chips.
