The MCX W72 is a secure and ultra‑low‑power wireless microcontroller optimized for Bluetooth® Low Energy 6.x and higher applications that require advanced capabilities such as Bluetooth Channel Sounding and precise ranging. It is designed for next‑generation Matter, Bluetooth and secure localization-enabled connected devices that extend beyond traditional Bluetooth LE connectivity. MCX W72, with multiprotocol wireless connectivity capabilities, is highly optimized for smart door locks, home and building control, asset tracking and other industrial and IIoT applications.
NXP MCX W72 integrates a Bluetooth LE 6.x–class radio, expanded memory and an on‑chip Localization Compute Engine that accelerates Bluetooth Channel Sounding algorithms while reducing latency and power consumption. Built on a 96 MHz Arm® Cortex®‑M33 core, MCX W72 combines rich multiprotocol wireless connectivity, advanced security, and significantly expanded memory to support large, feature‑rich applications and robust over‑the‑air updates. Its independent radio subsystem allows concurrent Bluetooth LE and 802.15.4 (Zigbee, Thread, Matter) operation without impacting application performance.
With up to 2 MB of application flash and 264KB of SRAM, plus a larger radio‑subsystem memory footprint, MCX W72 is optimized for advanced Matter devices that require multiple stacks, coexistence, and robust over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. Integrated EdgeLock® Secure Enclave technology with TrustZone®‑M provides robust protection for device identity, credentials, and lifecycle management across consumer, commercial, and industrial deployments.
MCX W72 is ideal for premium and future-ready Bluetooth LE 6.x use cases such as secure access control, indoor localization, asset tracking and future location‑aware IoT systems where security, scalability, and precise proximity awareness are key differentiators.
